1983 Squier by Fender JV-serial '62 Jazz Bass model SJB55 in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. One of the storied "Japanese Vintage" (JV) instruments which launched Fender Japan, the JV line only lasted from 1982-84. Made in the Fujigen factory, this Squier was crafted with the same quality components and attention to detail as Fender Japan's Fender-branded instruments. This one has uprated Sadowsky pick ups.
Premium features include vintage-spec long stem clover button tuners and spiral bridge saddles, black bobbin pickups, cloth-covered wiring used throughout, and tonewoods comprising an alder body, maple neck, and thick slab rosewood fretboard. The instrument delivers a lively, round natural acoustic quality that translates well through the pickups. At 9lbs 4oz, the bass has a strong fundamental punch and smooth sustain, with the upper midrange burp, treble growl and sweet articulation for which the Jazz Bass is knob. Rolling back the Tone knob to taste yields a fatter sound and plenty of thump.
