Hemen Sen Sarod Early 2000s - One Piece Teak

I am selling my one-piece sarod; hand-selected, made and crafted by Hemen Sen (the original Patriarch)of Calcutta. This instrument was purchased and shipped to me in the early 2000s. The story behind it is that I wished to learn sarod and was working in the Classical Indian music scene in the tri-state area. A client of mine had relatives in India that had connections to Hemen Sen. They were all kind enough to facilitate my getting this sarod. Unfortunately, after several lessons I realized the task of learning sarod would be to great for me and upon reflection I came to the conclusion that I am a westerner who plays guitar. I adapted sarod like technique to the guitar instead.

This is a professional grade instrument for performers. This instrument and flight case are like new, with no visible wear, marks or damage. The only issue is that it is not being played and it needs a set-up. The skin looks in great shape with no cracking (see photos). The flight case is also pristine with only some of the glue drying out holding the velour. This sarod was stored in my dry, climate controlled basement for 20 years.

I don't think you will ever find as nice an instrument in the United States at this point and the fact that it was made by Hemen Sen, who has passed, makes it more desirable and collectible.
