Fat Jimmy’s flagship amp. Think Deluxe reverb had a baby with a tweed Bassman and got the best Master Volume in the game.
Channel 1 has a high and low input, that’s the Bassman sounding side. Big round and warm cleans that take pedals as well as just about any amp I’ve owned. Has the touch sensitivity and squishy compressive nature of a Tweed, but feels clearer without losing the warmth.
The 2nd channel is where you start to get into Deluxe Reverb, but it’s really a lot more than that. I can approximate the tones I got out of my old ‘68 drip edge deluxe, but even get into ‘65 Princeton and ‘64 Vibrolux territory. It’s got the chime and top end sparkle of a good old Fender, but has the added benefit of a master volume to tame things or send it into overdrive even at low volumes. Has a ton of headroom for 20 watts. This side takes pedals like one of those old blackface fenders as well - it absolutely loves any drive I throw into it, and wet effects are crystal clear through it.
Fat Jimmy makes the best clean combos I’ve ever heard. I have three currently, and each one is perfect for what it does. They’re used by the likes of Bob Weir, John Fogerty and Johnny Hiland, so you’re in good company with one!
It’s in mint condition. I swapped in the EM12 but the original Fat Jimmy speaker can be included. I prefer the EM12 for more of a Swiss Army knife of a tonal palette, but the Fat Jimmy speaker gives it more of a Fendery top end. Both are excellent choices, and the character of the amp shines through with either.
This is one of the best amps I’ve ever owned, vintage included. It’s something I’d consider for any need (a Friedman BE-OD straight in can get me honest to goodness EXCELLENT metal tones!). If I were to have one amp it would be this one. For that reason, I’m listing at the higher end of used market price on it, hoping to sell some of my other amps first. But this one’s going up with five others in the attempt to clear out some space in my studio. Even so, a new one is 4 grand and half a year’s wait.
Feel free to give me a shout if any questions!

THE 20 SUPREME IS THE NEWEST, LATEST AND GREATEST FAT JIMMY AMP. THE TONES THAT THIS AMP PRODUCES ARE SECOND TO NONE.
The Fat Jimmy 20 Supreme is closely based on the Fat Jimmy Custom 20, which has been called Fat Jimmy's answer to the Fender Deluxe Reverb. Like its sibling though, the 20 Supreme is NO Fender DR clone!!
The 20 Supreme, like the Custom 20 would be in the same class as a Deluxe Reverb as it delivers approximately 22 watts of all tube power into a single 12" speaker. More muscular than a Deluxe Reverb, the 20 Supreme provides more 'beef,' more clean sustain, more touch sensitivity, better note blossom, intuitive response, richer harmonic content, and creamier overdrive.
The 20 Supreme utilizes the same circuit as the Fat Jimmy Custom 20, but without the vibrato and with an added a mid control to the second channel, along with a master volume. These new controls, along with the "Jimmy' and preamp volume, allow you to really dial in the headroom and breakup point of the amp. You can get a lot more grit at lower volumes than with the Custom 20, but also the same amount of headroom.
The first channel is voiced with a tweed style preamp for a thicker, beefy, more aggressive channel with more midrange emphasis and slightly earlier breakup than the second classic channel. The second 'classic' channel delivers what is expected by the blackface player, but also borrows from the brownface era. This gives you a different treble response, allowing you a greater treble range than the standard blackface preamp. You can get both more AND less treble than your typical BF preamp. The ability to dial back treble is ideal for those players who find the blackface amps too bright. The Jimmy, reverb and master volume controls work for both channels.
The single Fat Jimmy C1270 speaker sounds incredible paired with this circuit in this size cab. All of these aspects align to deliver an absolutely incredible little powerhouse of an amplifier!!
