Another interesting instrument resurrected at my guitar ICU. It is all solid wood, hand made, spruce top, mahogany back/sides, spruce or fir neck guitar, perhaps from the 50's or 60's.

If you look at the last 9 photos, you will see how it looked when I received it.

It had a Viuda De Santos Hernandez Guitarreria label. I had to remove the label in order to cleat a crack in the back. The Hernandez label was there prior to the back crack occurring (most likely due to dryness) as it was torn by the split.

All cracks, top and back, were glued and cleated, using either hide glue or fish glue. The old worn out fingerboard was removed and a new ebony fretboard, slightly elevated to achieve a adequate action, was installed and fretted. Used but a good quality machine heads were installed. A new bone nut and saddle were made. The entire instrument was French polished to a low luster, acknowledging the age and wear of the old instrument. Although the cracks are visible, they are solid, cleated and sealed.

I restored the Hernandez label, mounted it on rice paper, but not glued it back. It will be included with the instrument as well as the original tap plates. (last two photos). Presently the guitar has only the lower clear plastic tap plate. The guitar has a nice hard case, not certain if it is original.

The scale is 640mm, the action 2.25 for both on 12th fret. The neck is a pronounced D shape, fairly thick, about 27mm at 1st fret, 30mm at the 9th.

Please listen to the sound sample played by Mr. Diego Corriente, a professional flamenco guitar performer, who was kind enough to inspect and play this instrument.

Feel free to ask any questions.
