An exquisite 2003 Signed Jeroen Hilhorst No. 50 classical guitar, hand-built in the Netherlands. This instrument features a fine-to-medium grain spruce top, Brazilian rosewood back and sides, a millennium-style fretboard, and a light weight of only 2,339g (5 lbs. 1.5 oz.). Finished in French polish for maximum resonance.

Scale length is 650mm, nut width is 52mm, and it has 20 frets. The interior bracing shows some similarity to Greg Smallman’s approach, but with Hilhorst’s own unique innovations.

This guitar was played by Duo 46 at the 2005 Guitar Foundation of America Festival & Competition — recordings can be found on YouTube. Concert artists such as Rémy Bouchet are known to perform with Hilhorst guitars.

Condition: Excellent overall with two repaired top cracks — both professionally cleated. One is near the armrest, the other is about 1" inward toward the bridge, 1 ¾" long. French polish is intact and the guitar is structurally sound with a rich, powerful tone.

About the Luthier:
Jeroen Hilhorst, a Dutch master luthier, began building guitars in 1989 and developed a reputation for instruments that balance projection, tonal warmth, and light weight. His designs, including his millennium-style fretboard and hybrid bracing patterns, are sought by top classical performers. Hilhorst retired from building in 2020, making his instruments increasingly rare.

Includes a high-quality case.
