Handcrafted by Austin Clark in Boise, Idaho Clark’s F5 mandolins are built based on Loar period Gibson F5 mandolins but are not slavish copies, reflecting his own opinion and design style. This F5 features an adirondack spruce top, with red maple back and sides.

I am however, committed to using methods and materials proven over time to be both the best for sound quality and repairability. This includes using hot hide glue for most parts, compound tapered dovetail neck joints and two way trussrods for adjustability. I am a believer in varnish finishes. I currently use an oil varnish as I feel it is superior in sound quality and durability over varied environments. All of my F5 models are built with Adirondack Red Spruce tops and either Red Maple or Sugar Maple backs and sides. All F5 Models come standard with a pickguard.
