The Korg SDD-2000 is a classic 12-bit rackmount digital delay unit, prized for its rich tone and creative flexibility. Originally introduced in the 1980s, the SDD-2000 combines delay and sampling capabilities, along with MIDI integration, in a robust studio-grade rack processor.

It offers delay times from 0.1ms to 1092ms at 18kHz bandwidth, with a 4x extended mode pushing delay up to 4.368 seconds (at reduced 4.5kHz bandwidth), great for ambient soundscapes or tape-style echo emulation. While there's no onboard filtering in the feedback path, its signature character remains highly musical.

The tap tempo function is responsive and intuitive, with support for MIDI tap triggering. Delay time can be fine-tuned down to 0.1ms resolution in short-delay modes, and the digital readout makes precision dialing a breeze. Delay time changes will interrupt the signal, a typical trait of vintage digital units, so it's better suited for programmed or studio use over real-time tweaking.

In sampling mode, the unit allows monophonic sample playback mapped across three octaves via MIDI, with support for looped or one-shot triggering. You can control pitch with bend/mod messages and even modulate feedback and delay time mid-playback (note: altering delay time truncates the sample).
