We are proud to present a truly exceptional 1947 Martin 00-21. This 12-fret slot-head is a masterclass in post-war craftsmanship, offering a playing experience that stands among the very best we have ever encountered. For the player seeking that elusive combination of power and delicate clarity, this guitar delivers a loud, articulate, and incredibly bell-like tone that fills the room.
This instrument has been professionally maintained to ensure it remains a reliable tool for the serious musician. It has recently undergone a high-quality refret and a professional neck reset. As a result, it plays with perfect action and possesses a flawless neck angle, meaning it is set up and ready for decades of continued play. The neck profile is a standout feature for those who prefer a more substantial feel—it is nice and wide with a comfortably chunky "C" shape that provides excellent leverage for fingerstyle or flatpicking.
The guitar is in very nice aesthetic condition, showing only light pick wear and the gentle patina one expects from an instrument of this vintage. Structurally, it is very sound. There are a few very tight hairline side cracks that have been inspected and are completely stable.
Regarding the visual on the back of the neck and headstock: there is a distinct line where the finish has sunk into the grain, extending from the headstock down the length of the neck. While this may superficially resemble a crack in photographs, we have inspected this thoroughly and are fully confident that it is simply finish sinking. It is not a structural crack, and it does not affect the integrity or playability of the neck in any way. We encourage you to look closely at the high-resolution photos to see the character of this natural aging process.
This 00-21 comes with the hard case pictured. It is a rare opportunity to own a golden-era Martin that plays as perfectly as the day it left Nazareth, with a voice that only 75+ years of aging can produce.
