Here we have for sale this vintage 60's Gibson Southern Jumbo SJ in Cherry Sunburst. This is a player's grade guitar in poor condition. This guitar is being sold as-is and returns will not be accepted.
This guitar has lots of cosmetic wear including repaired cracks, a headstock break repair, and natural checking. When the headstock repair was done the back of the headstock was refinished and the serial number was covered up. You can still somewhat see the serial number under the right light. The serial number suggests this guitar was built in 1964, but it does have the more narrow 1 9/16" narrow nut width. Perhaps it was a transitional guitar. A pickup is installed. The saddle slot was filled and recut for intonation. The frets are low and a refret would be recommended for this guitar. The action is high and a neck reset may also be recommended. The strings fret out above the 12th fret.
Despite all of the repairs and cosmetic wear, this guitar has a nice loud, dry, woody tone and has a lot of potential.
