Fender Squire Detonator Strat-RARE!! Early 2000's? - Black

Fender Squire Detonator Strat, Kill Switch & Hot HH Pickups -

VERY RARE MODEL!!!

This guitar was given to me by a friend who got it from a family member.

It took some work, but I got it playing decently and all electronics working fine.

It was not taken care of by whoever previously owned it, as there are deep scratches and dings all over the guitar.

But I cleaned it up, put on new .10 gauge strings, set the action a bit lower and intontion to make it playable/in tune, and a functioning guitar. I have Pro training in guitar setups and feel comfortable with basic adjustments.

The neck shape on this is more like a traditional strat feel than shredder style tall D. And I'd describe the thickness as maybe a medium C. The jumbo style frets seem to have the majority of their meat still intact, though there is still some wear. There's a dark blemish in the wood on the neck by the heel....see photos.

The Seymour Duncan Invader style pickups sound a lot like the US made Invaders, which I have on one of my other guitars. So it will scream through a metal type amp/pedal. These also show lots of mids to cut through the mix that the high output Invaders are known for. The Kill Switch works as it should, with the ability to do quick on/off effects like T. Morello and many others who love this feature.

Through some web browsing I've discovered that this is actually a rare guitar. I've been trying to find another one for sale for months now, or one that sold for reference, with NO luck. So I'm assuming this is indeed a very rare Squire!
