Vintage 1962 Tosca (Valco) Thunderstick Double Pickup Electric Guitar w/ Original Case!

Up for sale is this vintage 1962 Tosca Thunderstick electric guitar. These Valco instruments are always such a cool bang for the buck and this example, the more uncommon double-cut, double-pickup model sure is a whole lot of fun...

This instrument is all original and in very nice condition for its age. The original red finish presents great although it does have some wear around the edges (pictured) and some belt-buckle scuffs on the back (pictured). The original hardware is in very nice condition as well, but does show some wear and pitting. The G-string tuner is bent but functions fine.

Our tech has just checked this one out and cleaned it up a bit and gave it a light set up tweaking. It plays great with comfortable, low action all the way up the neck. He noted that the neck was straight but the fretboard drops once it meets the body upon visual inspection although it has no playability issues (we just like to be transparent). As is typical with these old short scale instruments (22" scale here, folks), there is some buzz here and there, especially if you're heavy handed. There's plenty of room for the action to come up to suit your playing style. The original frets show wear but still retain a good amount of life in them. All of the electronics function as they should although, as typical with these, the switch is a little scratchy upon shifting gears.

The original chipboard case is included and is in very nice condition for its age and what it is. All of the latches and hinges are present and work as they should. The instrument will be well-packed inside and out to ensure safe shipping.
