1981 Gibson Les Paul Standard in Wine Red, made in the Nashville factory.
A fantastic sounding early 80s Les Paul with the original Tim Shaw humbuckers, no cracks or breaks, and a recent pro setup. It is a genuine player-grade late Norlin era LP with honest wear and lovely natural patina, but completely original and playing beautifully.
I bought this because it has all the things I wanted from this era, original Tim Shaw pickups, proper old Les Paul feel, and that slightly raw, open sound these early 80s Standards can have. Only selling to fund my next purchase.

Condition This is a proper player-grade guitar with honest wear consistent with age and some really nice natural patina. There is visible cosmetic wear to the finish, including wear to the back and some colouring / wear on the neck, all shown in the photos. None of this affects how it plays or sounds and the guitar is structurally fine.
The guitar plays beautifully and sounds fantastic, with the original Tim Shaw pickups giving it the classic articulate late 70s / early 80s PAF-style Gibson tone these guitars are known for.
Weight is approximately 10.8 lbs, so this is a substantial old Les Paul. The upside is exactly what you’d expect, loads of sustain, a big solid feel, and that proper hefty early 80s Les Paul sound. With a good wide strap it sits well, but worth bearing in mind if you specifically prefer lighter examples.
