Used Tascam 488 MKII 8 Track Recorder/Mixer.

I picked this up last year but it had taken a backseat to life and other projects, so I’d like to see this go to someone who has the time to finish it up.

The tape section does not currently function correctly. When you try and play/rew/ff it engages for 1 second, then disengages. I was told by a number of people that it is probably the digital counter and is either the hall sensor, or the leaf sensor switches are dirty. Like a lot of Portastudios, the tape cover is missing.

The mixer section functions as it should. Some pots are a bit scratchy and could use another clean with deoxit. The only major issue being the “Low EQ” Potentiometer on channel 7 is broken off, which is causing a hum on that channel and will need to be replaced (Which should clear up the hum).

I hate to see it go but I want it to continue to be used for another 30 years!
