Teisco 1424 Vintage MIJ Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar Sunburst w/ Tremolo – Japan 1960s

Up for sale is a vintage Teisco model 1424 semi-hollow electric guitar made in Japan in the 1960s. These Teisco guitars are a big part of the early Japanese electric guitar history and have become very collectible in recent years, especially the semi-hollow models with the large single coil pickups and original tremolo systems.

This guitar features a double cutaway semi-hollow body, sunburst finish, rosewood fingerboard, original Teisco pickups, and the original tremolo tailpiece. The pickups have a very cool vintage tone — clear, punchy, and slightly microphonic in that classic 60s MIJ way that works really well for garage rock, blues, and indie style playing.

The guitar plays and functions, but like most vintage Teiscos it does have some quirks.

Playability / Setup Notes

• Action is currently 6/64" at the 12th fret on both E strings
• Some strings have intonation slightly off and saddles are already at max adjustment
• Tone knob cuts out sound when turned all the way up
• Electronics are crackly when adjusting knobs, but signal is good while playing
• Tremolo works

This would make a great player-grade vintage guitar, studio guitar, or collector piece.

Cosmetic Condition

The guitar shows normal cosmetic wear for its age:

• Finish wear and scratches throughout
• Edge wear and small chips around the body
• Finish wear on back
• General aging and patina to hardware
• Overall very cool vintage look
