This 2002 Santa Cruz D-Pre War is in excellent shape and is a great overall D-28-style guitar! Check out the demo video below.
There are not too many of these used D/PWs out there – if they sound and play like this, I can understand why! At 24 years old, this dreadnought has had time to open up but has also been preserved very well. It features a beautiful Sitka spruce top with Indian Rosewood back and sides. It’s super responsive and has a great neck angle, so it plays well up the fretboard. The low end is very nice, and the midrange and trebles are punchy and sweet.
I don’t believe there is any repair history to note. There are a couple minor dings that I can find, one on the back of the neck and one on the binding, and light surface wear on the headstock, but overall not much to report. There’s virtually no fretwear. The nut width is 1 11/16” and string spacing at the saddle is 2 3/16”. The Waverly tuners have tarnished a bit over the years but function great. The finish on both the top and back has developed some lacquer checking, giving it a little “vintage” energy.
Asking $4,900 here on Reverb (lower on other forums) plus shipping. Comes in a TKL hardshell case.
