I bought this Gibson LG-O in Ames, Iowa the spring of 1967 to learn how to play and sing Simon and Garfunkel songs. Several attempts at guitar lessons later, it was clear that playing and singing were not among my capabilities. Except for the annual nostalgic strumming, the Gibson became a conversation piece. In anticipation of selling it, I had a guitar specialist restring it and assess it. Here verbatim (see photo) is what he said recently.
“1967 Gibson LG-O #868426
Overall very good condition. Structurally solid, with all bracing intact.
Bridge plate shows some wear.
Small crack in the top down the middle near the tail block.
Aftermarket Grover tuning machines installed.
Could use a neck reset, due to higher string height.”
The original tuning machine is included in the case with the guitar. The original screw holes in the back of the headstock are visible in a photo.
The original Gibson guitar case is included in the sale. It has a few minor wear marks. The cover for the compartment inside the case has come off at the hinge but is functional and with the case. The original capo and assorted finger and thumb picks are in the compartment as well.
Free shipping to an address in the Lower Forty-eight is included. Or, the guitar can be picked up a few miles north of St. Paul, Minnesota.
Thank you for taking a look.
