The Dave Smith Instruments Tempest (2012) is a modern analog/digital hybrid drum synthesizer and one of the most sophisticated drum machines of the 21st century. Designed by Dave Smith and Roger Linn, it features analog oscillators, filters, and digital sample playback, producing rich complex textures that straddle classic and contemporary sound design.
This 3-chip EPROM set extracts the Tempest's signature drum sounds and loads them into your HR-16 or HR-16B, giving you warm, punchy analog character with the nimble programmability and individual outputs of the HR-16. A unique combination that bridges classic 80s hardware with cutting-edge sound design.
