Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.

You are looking at a very rare older Calrad 10-24 model dynamic microphone from the 1960's  era. This unique microphone was an earlier model offered by Calrad and was a general purpose microphone in a high Z setting. It comes with the period stand shown in which to display and the short cable in which to operate.

It should be noted right away that this mic still has the original element and works like new with a strong usable signal. Like any older High Z Japanese mic it has a "rockabilly" tone that's void of bass and fun to use for a variety of purposes. It's omni-directional as well.

The 10-24 is seldom seen and it was a unique design having a built in 4 inch gooseneck between the lower pistol grip and the upper barrel / head. This mic was intended to give the user a bit of reach to work with and the gooseneck allows you to angle the mic in any direction.

This is the first Calrad 10-24 model I have ever seen and I'm not sure that this mic was ever sold by any other Japanese manufacturer? This mic is rare. It's not the prettiest example I'm sure but it's not exactly terrible either. it has wear consistent with it's age.

The all metal body of the 10-24 has a painted head that shows scuff marks. scratches and paint loss. The short chrome gooseneck looks perfect and it's quite flexible. The lower pistol grip has a functional on / off switch and the satin chrome finish is very nice. The Calrad badge does show a bit of wear but it's mostly legible. The threading for the stand and cable are perfect. I'd rate the mic a true 7 on a scale of 1 - 10.

The short cable is soft, pliable and has the vintage Cannon male XLR end connector. It's wired correctly so all you have to do is just leave the short cable on at all times and simply attach any longer XLR cable of choice.

MICROPHONE STAND SHOWN IS PART OF THIS SALE...

The stand is a period Calrad model that makes a great platform for this mic. It's got an all metal painted base with polished chrome riser. The stand compliments the microphone very well and gives it a bit of height. Total dimensions with mic and stand are 13 1/2 inches tall X 4 inches wide X 5 1/2 inches deep.

The base shows typical wear in the form of scuff marks, scratches and a few paint chips here and there. There are 3 newer rubber pads on the bottom.

A nice piece to display anywhere in the home, studio or office or hook it up and use to broadcast with.

As with all my vintage microphones...
