Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.

You are looking at a rare 1940's era Bud Radio 589 model microphone desk stand with an ultra heavy cast iron base in a stock black painted finish, 4 tier "waterfall" design with original 6 inch chrome riser making this an ideal platform for any older screw on type microphone. Made in the U.S.A. and a highly collectible piece that will do your mic justice.

Pic # 2 shows this very model along with several other offered by Bud Radio.

Bud Radio was one of those companies that was well known back in the 1930's and 40's before disappearing forever like so many audio related companies of that time. They sold a variety of desk and floor stands that were considered both eccentric and high quality costing more than many of their competitors.

The Bud Radio stands were built like tanks and far heavier than your standard desk stands making these ideal for those larger mics of the time like the RCA ribbon mics or the Shure 55 "Fatboy".

I used a very large period Amperite brand ribbon microphone seated on this stand to show you how large this stand is.

If you had an expensive heavier mic back then you didn't take chances with a flimsier, lite weight stand. You needed something beefy that would tip easily and the Bud Radio 589 model was an ideal choice.

The stand weighs in at over 3 pounds and stands 8 inches tall. Your RCA 44BX or 74B model mic will look great on this stand. The 589 has the universal 5/8 X 27 thread so almost any older screw on mic and any mic clip will work on this stand.

This rarely seen stand is the first I have had to offer in about a year and it's a pretty decent example despite the lite signs of wear.

Again, the black painted base is all original and has just a few paint chips. The polished chrome riser looks very good with just small scratches and the base has 3 new felt pads to keep the stand from scratching any surface it sits on. I'd rate the cosmetic condition a true 8 on a scale of 1 - 10 though many would rate higher.

You can always add a taller or shorter chrome riser to the base but the original riser gives you a bit of height to work with. If you need a very special, rarer early stand for that special early mic then this one will certainly do you justice.  I probably won't get another one of these to offer for perhaps a year to come.
