Vintage 1950's Electro Voice 920 crystal microphone polished chrome w short cable Hi Z harp mic Shure Turner Electro Voice

               Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.

You are looking at a classic Electro Voice model 920 "Spherex" microphone. This simple, elegant and timeless design came right from Buchanan, Michigan during the 1950's. This smaller mic comes with a short cable in which to operate.

 Picture # 2 is from a 1950's catalog showing basic specs on this mic.

 This 920 utilized a crystal element which has been replaced with another slightly smaller vintage crystal element. I'm not sure which brand but it's probably a Japanese brand. A Shure controlled magnetic element would do this mic justice the replacement crystal element is pretty strong and I would rate it at a minimum of 80% if not higher. When it's cupped in the hand the signal strength really comes alive. This would make a very good harp mic as it's very light weight and easy to hold.

 This 920 has a polished chrome body that shows very lite wear. No dents or engravings but there are just the tiniest of scratches and scuff marks. The front screen has no tarnish but no odors or dents. Overall a very nice looking 920.

 I'd rate this a true 8 + on a scale of 1 - 10.

 The cable has a short length to it being just 6 inches long with an older male Cannon XLR end connector that is properly wired. The cable itself is free of damage and allows for a wide range of movement if needed. Attach any longer cable of choice as an extension cable to operate. The mic thread on the mic is perfect as well with zero signs of use and will screw onto any American mic stand. 

  I have also been told that these make excellent gear shift knobs for older classic American cars and have sold a couple for such use but I would recommend actually using this as it was originally intended.
