Hello and welcome to The House of chrome.

You are looking at a great general purpose microphone made by Electro Voice during the 1960's & 70's with outstanding sound quality. It was intended as an affordable general broadcasting mic. It comes with a period Atlas GN-13 chrome gooseneck and a 2 ft cable in which to operate as well as the Atlas DS-5 desk stand / base.

Pic # 2 is from an old E.V catalog showing this very model and it's characteristics. The 634A, 638 and 641 model microphone utilized the exact same element but the 643A came with an elongated body via a center plastic extension and threaded insert so that you could attach this to a gooseneck or stand adapter. The 634A was a rugged mic and basically bullet proof.

The 634A, 641 & 638's front grill has a classic design that resembled the air intake for many of the early American and Soviet fighter planes of that era. You'll notice that the microphone manufacturers were copying the styles of the American automobile, aircraft and space agencies for many years.

It should be noted that mic is omni-directional as well picking up a little more background than a uni-directional mic. This mic is very mid range sounding in nature and has a very distinct sound if you like something that's a bit old school. It's void of bass. These little mics have a very mid century vibe as well that stands out.

Made right here in the U.S.A 60 + years ago. Thoroughly tested and cleaned this 641 has 100% signal output. Everything is tight. No loose parts.

The mic is cosmetically very nice with very lite cosmetic wear on the polished chrome body. The plastic center plastic piece is very nice too with a minimum of wear. The E.V label is completely legible. No dents or fractures on the body and I'd rate it a very conservative 8 + on a scale of 1 -10. Please let the detailed pics be your guide. The threads for the stand are excellent with zero wear though the gooseneck is included.

The 13 inch chrome gooseneck is in very nice condition and allows you to mount the mic to any desk or floor stand you have though an Atlas base is provided. You can get a great angle with the mic as well as the gooseneck is flexible.

You'll notice the 2 foot cable runs through the gooseneck. The cable is soft, pliable and free of damage.

The male Swithccraft male XLR end connector cannot slide though the Atlas DS-5 base but the Atlas base provides a good platform allowing you to lower the mic quite a bit. The DS-5 base is a cast iron model that is period to the mic and has the 3 original rubber pads with great original paint. It really compliments the mic as well.

You'll notice there is an old push to talk button installed on the base. It's not currently wired to work but one could always do so if you want that option.

A nice combo package that will do you justice if you are using a HAM radio set up or paging system.

                 As always...
