Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.
You are looking at an older, rarer Philips EL6011 model dynamic microphone from the 1950's era that comes with the period Philips desk stand shown. The design is from The Philips microphone Company based out of Holland. This rarely seen model has a very modern edgy design with an all metal body and stock painted finish. A sophisticated quality build with great sound.
Philips made some very unique, quality microphones back in the day and their designs certainly stood out. The EL6011 was no exception. It has a War of The Worlds vibe to it yet classy at the same time. Almost Art Deco in nature.
This dynamic mic has been tested and works excellent. It should be noted that it has a very dirty tone to it. Very muddy. This would be an excellent harp mic as it sounds just like the Shure controlled magnetic mics of the day. It would also be a great vocal mic for a jazz or blues band because of it's tone.
This EL6011 it a dual impedance mic but you'll want to use a cable that has a male 1/4 inch end connector. Any longer cable will work just make sure you use the male 1/4 inch end connector again. This mic came to me without a cable as it was cut by a previous owner so I had to install a new cable. I added a Switchcraft male XLR end connector for ease of use. The 7 inch cable is soft, pliable and works perfectly.
The mic itself looks great with just lite typical wear. small paint chips and scratches. The front grill looks great as does the Philips badge on the rear of the mic. The on / of switch works perfectly as does the impedance switch.
This mic comes with the 4223 model desk stand that also has a modern midcentury design being both practical and elegant. It was used to hold many Philips microphones of that era such as the Philips EL 6020 model, 6030 model and 6011 model. The small screw at the very top of the base would simply screw into the bottom of those mics until secured. I added a nice 5 inch chrome riser however to give the mic more height to work with that you will certainly appreciate.
This larger stand makes for an excellent platform for all small, medium and larger screw on microphones due to it low profile and weight. You'll be hard pressed to tip any microphone over that sits atop this Philips stand.
It's in very good physical condition as well as seen in the pics provided. There is some noticeable scratches on the top of the base but the base is free of any paint chips, dents or fractures. I'm asked for this style of mic stand often but never seem to have any on hand as I only find these every few years.
The original rubber gasket / pad is still on the bottom of the base and works great.
Total dimension with mic and stand are appx 12 inches high x 5 1/2 inches wide.
Please let the detailed pics be your guide.
