This is an incredible survivor of a slide guitar. This ACE by Rickenbacker is from roughly the 1940s and sat unused for my decades before I found it to restore. When I opened it up, it was clear that I was the only person to ever open it, so I did the right thing and closed it right back up and left it alone. There are some manageable scratching sounds when using the volume potentiometer, but I think that's a small price to pay for keeping it original. Look at how beautiful the factory internal electronics are!
The tuning pegs on these are almost always broken and this was no exception, so I fabricated replacements from brand-new Kluson 3-on-a-plate tuners. Make sure you look at the before and after photos. I will include the original tuners in the Kluson box for the new owner. It is freshly strung in open C6 with La Bella strings and it sounds beautiful. I'm not much of a lap steel player, but I'll include a video.
(tone bar not included, but send me a message if you'd like to purchase it separately and we can work something out.)
