The JHS Coyote Fuzz is a one-of-a-kind octave fuzz built in tribute to Glenn S. Wyllie, the reclusive builder behind the rare Moonrock Fuzz—a circuit that never followed the rules and still doesn’t. Its single sweep control moves through three distinct voices: a gated swell that blooms in with a reversed-tape character and slow, breathing attack; a thick, mid-forward fuzz with rich low end that leans into Tone Bender-style territory; and a snarling octave-up voice driven by emphasized even-order harmonics, capturing that unmistakable, searing Hendrix-inspired edge.
What makes the Coyote so compelling is how seamlessly it travels between these textures. The swell gradually gives way to fuzz, and the fuzz evolves into octave without abrupt shifts, opening up a wide range of tones between each zone. From atmospheric, blooming textures to dense, saturated walls of sound and cutting octave leads, it delivers a spectrum that feels both cohesive and unpredictable in the best way.
Rather than revisiting familiar circuits, this pedal revives Wyllie’s experimental design and presents it in a way that’s accessible without losing its character. It stands as both a tribute and a rediscovery—offering a rare, unconventional voice that invites exploration and delivers something genuinely different.
