Personal Thoughts:
Danocasters have such a following because they manage to feel familiar straight away, but somehow more broken-in, more responsive, and more convincing than a lot of the vintage-inspired competition. This one sounds exactly like the sort of early Danocaster people chase as well. The ash body, very light 6.8 lb weight, blackguard look and Budz pickups put it firmly in that sweet spot for someone wanting a lively, old-school single cut with loads of snap and character. I also like the .83" neck carve here, as Dan’s necks are a huge part of why these guitars have the reputation they do, and slimmer early examples like this can be incredibly comfortable. The wiring detail is worth mentioning too — the neck pickup not being tied to the tone pot is part of the design, and it helps give the guitar a slightly more open, direct response. Add in the fact that it came through LA Vintage Gear when they were Danocaster’s distributor, and it makes it feel like a really nice, period-correct example from the earlier sought-after years. Danocaster describes the line broadly as custom-made vintage-style guitars, and surviving dealer listings for comparable early single cuts confirm the use of ash bodies, Budz pickups, original gig bags, and hang tags on guitars from this era.

Condition Report:
Excellent condition. Aside from the intentional relic work, it presents very cleanly overall. The relic treatment itself is especially impressive, with the sort of fine detail that has helped build Danocaster’s reputation. Supplied with the original gig bag and original hang tag.
