Here we have a very well played in 1977, Rickenbacker 4001 model in a some what more rare "Azure-glo Blue" factory finish. 50 years old and still complete with all its original Rickenbacker factory parts. The old girl is,..as stated,..very well played in with loads of reliced mojo to spare!! No cracks, breaks or past structural repairs of any kind,. but a few past modifications have left the bass with a little extra component space under the pickguard. At one point and time the bass was routed out in the neck position cavity to house a "split P" pickup configuration, and as a result,.. the pickup cavity is now slightly larger then the factory original cavity size. From the looks of things this split P set was and active set of some kind as there is also now a larger cavity und the controls to acommodate a 9V battery. However now, the bass has been re assembled with its original pickups and is all ready to roll. Clearly a true road warrior that has seen a lot of miles and gig time over its 1/2 century lifespan. The serial number located on the stereo jack plate (QJ4175) dates thie bass to being made sometime in October of 1977 and is factory finished in the far less common Azureglo blue-high gloss finish. The Azureglo blue itself is still quite bright,..but the high gloss part has dulled quite a bit over the years, and she shows quite a few gig-made battlescars. Not so much to the original frets or anything on the bridge saddles, but quite a lot of chips and scatterered weather-checking due to constant use. The bass came to us here from the one original first owner and, when compared to other 4001's,.. is a fairly lightweight bass and very comfortable to play with the typical cool "Ricky-growl" one would expect. Fully set up and Includes and aftermarket, but older and period correct black rectangluar hardshell case.
