Holy $h!+ boys and girls.…. would you just look at this one!!! My word this is a poster child for the ULTIMATE 1st Fender vintage reissues made at the Fullerton Factory. And my gosh.. it looks like it’s from the 50’s…. not the 80’s!! Even though technically that’s still vintage.. and would look pretty badass just because.. but yall this one, the vibe and overall vintage “thang” is so proper it hurts. I mean, it looks like it could’ve hung over Buddy Holly’s or Bill Carson’s shoulder and not skipped a beat.
The frets from about 7 up were good and grooved up.. played often in that box. So much so that I had to send it to the fabled Charley’s Guitar shop here in Texas for a crown and file…. All good. Those guys are wizards and this thing damn near plays itself now. Weighs in at a super comfortable and vintage accurate 7.6lbs. Hangs over the shoulder evenly and the resonance rings true through this entire axe!! Super Fender’y and Vintage.
With these early Fullerton reissues.. from time to time you would see a red bobbin pick up.. sometimes two.. and then very rarely.. You will find what this jewel is sporting…. And that’s an entire set of red bobbin matching pickups that are notorious for only going with these axes.!!! We’re talking factory lead tape, solder joints… and three-way switch still intact… the five way the factory would send with these jewels is still in the factory packaging and included. Along with the original purchase receipt from Sam Ash. And a few other odds and ends.. like the original chord, Trem bar..picks and bridge or ashtray cover!! Yesss!! That is all housed inside the original tweed hardshell case.
Boys and girls these are only going up on both the desirable and cost aspects and that’s only because these are legit the closest I personally believe that Fender has ever got to achieving the glory days of the 50s and 60s. And don’t get me wrong. I’ve got much love for the Custom Shops and Master Builts… some really exquisite work in there.. but if you’ve had the privilege of owning or playing a 50s or 60s fender… then you know this series nailed it!!!
In all honesty, this is a historic piece in Fenders timeline and the players and collectors that get into these understand and know why… don’t miss out on this one.. it’s special.
Thanks for the interest.
