This is a Ram’s Head Big Muff clone. As you can see in the first attached photo, my build is pictured on the left next to the original unit. I had the unique opportunity to disassemble and reverse-engineer a friend's original 1970s Ram’s Head Big Muff to ensure this circuit is an identical match.
I used a modern Electro-Harmonix PCB as a foundation and manually swapped the components to match the original Ram’s Head specs. I specifically sourced transistors with the original part numbers and biased the circuit to be identical to the 1970s unit. While I used the same component values, I opted for higher-quality resistors and capacitors to ensure the pedal sounds the same as the original while offering better long-term durability.
Additionally, after comparing my findings to schematics available online, I noticed several common errors in those public versions. Because many builders rely on those inaccurate schematics, this hand-wired clone offers a level of vintage-correct sound that is difficult to find elsewhere.
I have included a comparison video so you can hear the results for yourself. Please let me know if you have any questions or would like further information.
