VERY RARE !!
Gibson Les Paul Heritage Award 80 - in very good condition - Number 38.
All original with Tim Shaw pickups, pots dated 80 29 and 81 06 making it early 1981.
The Heritage Series was Gibson's first attempt to remake the 58-60 Les Pauls.
The Heritage series (1980-82) consisted of:
- the Standard - three piece neck with Rosewood (fairly common)
- the Elite - one piece Ebony neck with chrome fittings (less common)
- the Award - one piece Ebony neck with gold fittings and extra flame tops. Supposedly only 50 were built for dealers (very rare and rarely come up for sale).
The guitar plays and sounds amazing.
The maple top is a beautiful sunburst.
Comes with original Gibson Chain saw case, and heritage booklet.
In very good condition with just one area of varnish worn on the neck (see photo).
