This is a 1998 Les Paul Studio '98 Ebony, a long-selling model released since 1983, retaining the Les Paul sound while simplifying its ornamentation.

It features traditional wood materials similar to the Les Paul Standard, with a maple top, mahogany body, mahogany neck, and rosewood fingerboard. It has a 22-fret medium scale and is equipped with the classic 490R/498T pickups of that era.

While many Les Paul Studio models, including current models, feature dish inlays, this particular instrument retains the dot inlays found on the original 1983 model, and is fitted with Grover tuners.
