Yamaha SG1000 – Made in Japan (1980–1983) – Tobacco Sunburst
A true vintage Yamaha SG1000 from the golden era of Japanese craftsmanship. Built in Japan between 1980–1983, this guitar delivers everything you’d expect from a classic SG-series instrument - sustain, punch, and a strong, articulate voice.
The guitar is in overall good condition for its age. Cosmetically, it shows honest signs of use: surface scratches, small finish chips, and light wear throughout the body (please refer to photos). Nothing out of the ordinary for a 40+ year old instrument and all purely cosmetic.
Technically, everything works exactly as it should. All electronics are original, including the original Yamaha pickups with serial numbers stamped on the underside of the covers.
Both pickups feature coil-split (bi-sound) functionality, giving you a wide range of tones, from thick humbucker drive to more open, single-coil-like sounds.
The frets are in good condition with normal wear, no dead spots, and plenty of life left.
Tone-wise, this guitar sounds fantastic - tight low end, strong output, and great sustain. It sits perfectly in a mix and feels like a serious, stage-ready instrument.
A great example of a vintage Yamaha SG1000 with character and vibe.
The following work has been done: full fretboard conditioning with lemon oil, fret polish, pickup height adjustment for balance and clarity, and a fresh set of D’Addario 10-46s installed. String height at the 12th fret on the low E is right at 2.2 mm - set for comfortable playability.
