ROLI Seaboard RISE 49 — original-generation 49-key 5D MPE controller with silicone keywave surface (Strike, Glide, Slide, Press, Lift), built-in rechargeable battery, USB and Bluetooth connectivity, three touch faders, and an XY touchstrip. Released by ROLI in 2016 at $1,199 retail. Discontinued — ROLI's RISE 2 (with a redesigned keywave) is the current-generation product, but the original RISE 49 retains a strong following among sound designers and film/game composers, and used demand is steady.

Sourced and listed by Malinow Audio. The condition claims below come from the sourcing description that accompanied this unit. I have not personally bench-tested every dimension of MPE response — I want that disclosed up front so buyers can set expectations accordingly.

What I have NOT done:
- No per-dimension MPE round-trip test in Equator2 / a MPE-aware DAW on my own bench
- No keywave deformation / dead-zone scan — known failure mode on the original RISE; verify on receipt
- No battery health / runtime check
- No firmware update via ROLI Connect (ROLI Connect / ROLI Studio is no longer actively maintained — current MPE workflow is class-compliant USB or Bluetooth into any MPE-aware synth like Equator2, Pigments, Surge XT, etc.)

Known caveat about original RISE silicone: The first-generation Seaboard keywave silicone is known to develop "tackiness" or surface degradation over years of storage in some units. Photos show this unit's surface; buyer should review the keywave close-ups carefully. Any defect visible in the photos is part of the as-described condition.

Cosmetics: See the four photos for accurate representation. Keywave, chassis, faders, XY pad, and rear panel all in the photos. Cosmetic wear is consistent with careful studio use per the sourcing description.

Comp band (Reverb): Active Reverb listings for the original RISE 49 in similar condition currently range from roughly $629 (Excellent, no case) to $1,200+ (Mint). At $899 with the official ROLI soft case, this sits in the middle of the active comp band. The current-generation RISE 2 49 trades around $1,000-1,500 used, so the spread between RISE 1 and RISE 2 is real and reflected in pricing.
