Don’t wait on this one, gang.  Here is a 2011 reissue Silvertone 1478 Silhouette, in Mint Condition, retrofitted with a pair of 1960s Vintage DeArmond Mustache Gold Foils, truly the best of both worlds. You get a beautiful reproduction of the original, in perfect working condition, with the bite of those classic DeArmonds, all for about half the price of a Vintage Silhouette.

This is a guitar we took in on consignment for one of our favorite customers.  He had actually just grabbed up a Harmony H19 Silhouette that we had in about a month ago, that was in near mint condition.  Previously, he had tried to more or less create a vintage Silhouette by purchasing a reissue and having a set of Vintage DeArmonds installed on it.  The guitar is in absolutely perfect working order and even comes with the original reissue pickups, should you ever want to move the DeArmonds to another guitar.

Here are the important specs:

Body: Mahogany with a Maple Top and Back

Neck: Mahogany C-Profile bolt on neck with a dual action truss rod

Fretboard: Indian Rosewood

Total Length: 39 1/8”

Bridge: Tune-O-Matic

Frets: 20 Nickel Silver

Vibrato: Bigsby Licensed B-5

Nut Width: 1 11/16”

String Spacing at Bridge: 2 1/16”

Fretboard Radius: 12”

Scale: 24 1/2”

Action at Twelfth Fret: Low E - 5/64”, High E - 1/16”

Pickups: Two Reissue Silvertone Single Coils (included separately), replaced by two 1960s Vintage DeArmond Mustache Gold Foils with Adjustable Pole Pieces (9.6K Neck, 10.15K Bridge)

Coming into the shop, it needed only a slight set-up and a fresh set of strings.  Everything else was working perfectly. We adjusted the action, set the relief, and checked the intonation at the bridge. The electronics work perfectly and the guitar sounds great.

What you’ll love about the tone on this guitar is the wide range of styles you can move through. The Neck pickup is great for jazz and blues, and the treble has all of the brightness you need for surf and psychedelia. Blend the two and you have a great, rocking machine.  The body has some heft to it, and combined with the tune-o-matic bridge, you’ll have tremendous sustain.  The Bigsby is well built and returns reliably to pitch.  For taking the stage, you’ll get that vintage sound without the risk of bringing a vintage axe to a gig.

Be sure to check out the photos carefully, as we have tried to capture the guitar from all angles.

The guitar does not have a case, but will ship in the box in which it was originally delivered, the second set of pickups inside.
