8 parallel Digital Delays in Stereo, modulation, HFC etc... For simple delay sounds to huge soundscapes. Yamaha would do well to re-issue this as no other company makes a multi delay in parallel configuration. From Holdsworth to Steve Morse delay sounds to Zakk Wylde's symphonic chorus sound popularized by the SPX-90, this is the next best thing to original Roland, Lexicon, Yamaha, ADA, Delta Lab rack units from the 80's and 90's. Even with my Kempers, I simply cannot replicate the 8 parallel delays and other algorithms on this device!
I personally went to great lengths to update this particular Yamaha Magic Stomp to the latest firmware (2.10) and load Allan Holdsworth's ACTUAL personal patches as well as amp sim presets that capture his exact Yamaha DG-80 settings as detailed by him before his untimely death.
He actually used 6 of these at once to achieve his signature sound (3 for leads and 3 for chord playing). Some close to him have even reported seeing him use 10 toward the end!
8 parallel delays were used give his leads a 3-dimensional sound. Holdsworth liked this device because his lead and chorus sounds depended HEAVILY on 8 separate delays. This is no small feat to replicate on most other devices.. which is why Holdsworth loved these.
This one is a MKII which adds a 1/8” stereo headphone jack to the purple MagicStomp series and has a slightly higher fidelity chip inside.
Power supply included.
