Vintage Late 1970's S. D. Curlee Standard Medium Scale Bass Guitar w/ Fender Gig Bag!

Up for sale is this vintage late 1970's S. D. Curlee Standard medium-scale bass guitar. This one has recently had some work done which has resulted in one of the best playing examples of an SD Curlee that we've ever come across. With the 32 ½" scale, it's super comfortable and, while it's pretty darn whooped, it looks great!

This instrument is not all original and one pickup cover, the strap buttons, the pots (CTS), and the knobs have been swapped. The bass retains the original Badass bridge, Grover tuning keys, and DiMazrio pickup so everything that really matters is there. The finish shows HEAVY, HEAVY wear and it's clear that this bass spent a LOT of time on stage. It looks great and almost any "custom shop" could learn a lesson from this one.

This bass recently had the truss rod professionally replaced so the skunk stripe on the back of the neck is not original and the back of the neck has been oversprayed. At some point, the truss rod access was routed out a bit to allow for easier access (pictured) but that's purely cosmetic. The neck feels great and is straight thanks to this work, which allows for low and comfortable action all the way up the neck. The original frets do show wear and divoting but still retain plenty of life. There is some fret buzz here and there, especially if you're heavy handed, but there is plenty of room to adjust the set up to meet your preferences.

Our tech gave this one a quick once over and basically just sprayed out the electronics and played around with it for an hour because it's so much fun. Everything works as it should and as you know, when a bass looks like this, there's usually a reason for it...
