1986 Ibanez PL1770 Gold Pearl – The Ultimate ’80s Super-Strat with Serious Mojo and Killer Versatility!

If you’re hunting for a genuine piece of Ibanez history that screams 1986 excess and still plays like a modern weapon, stop scrolling. This is the ultra-rare Pro Line PL1770 in stunning Gold Pearl finish – one of the most forward-thinking Japanese masterpieces ever built, and this example is dripping with played-in soul.

Picture this: a shimmering Gold Pearl finish that catches light like liquid gold, offset double-cutaway alder body with those sleek, rounded ’80s contours that feel like they were carved for speed. The bolt-on maple neck (the direct ancestor of the legendary Wizard profile) is slim, fast, and buttery-smooth – 22 jumbo frets on a bound ebony fingerboard with classy abalone dots that pop against the dark wood. It’s the kind of neck that makes you want to rip up and down the fretboard for hours.

Under the hood? Pure ’80s innovation that still blows minds today:

- IBZ triple-magnet humbucker at the bridge – thick, articulate, and ready to roar

- Super 7F single-coils (neck & middle) with that reversed-angle magic for chime, quack, and sparkle

- The legendary Ibanez Edge double-locking tremolo – dive-bomb stable and silky

- 5-way blade PLUS a wild 5-button preset system that lets you instantly toggle between two completely different pickup configs at the push of a button

- Push/pull tone pot splits the humbucker for even more tonal madness

This thing is a sonic Swiss Army knife – from searing leads and harmonically rich cleans to full-on metal aggression and everything in between. It’s the guitar that made pros in the ’80s go “whoa.”

Condition with real character:

- Moderate playwear that tells the story of a guitar that’s been loved and gigged – beautiful checking, light dings, and honest belt-buckle scars that scream “played, not polished”

- Plenty of that irreplaceable vintage mojo – it feels broken-in, responsive, and alive

- Professionally repaired crack on the back of the maple neck (solid, stable, and structurally perfect – no impact on playability or tone)

This isn’t some dusty museum piece – it’s a battle-ready, tone-monster ’86 Ibanez that will turn heads at the gig and make you smile every time you plug in.

These PL1770s are getting harder to find every year, especially in this killer Gold Pearl finish. If you want a true ’80s icon that still outperforms most modern guitars, this is your chance.

Our Guarantee

We stand behind every guitar we sell. “Good enough” is never good enough. Every instrument is inspected, set up, and tested by multiple people immediately before shipping. We deliver the highest standard of quality and have built a reputation as a three-time NAMM Top 100 Dealer since 2009. The Dude Abides.

Neck & Setup - (unless otherwise noted)

- Neck is perfectly straight with no truss-rod issues.

- Intonation is spot-on.

- Professionally set up with low action and new American-made strings.

- All frets are dressed, leveled, crowned (if needed), and all frets on all guitars are polished to shine like new with no divots.

Return Policy, Restocking Fees & No Tire-Kicking Policy

We follow Reverb’s 7-day return policy. However:

- You must notify us in writing within 3 days of delivery (per tracking) of your intent to return.

- Original shipping and return shipping costs are not refunded unless the guitar is damaged in transit or is significantly not as described.

A 15% restocking fee applies to all returns for any reason other than damage in transit or significantly not as described.

We record demo videos of every guitar before shipping to document exact condition and performance. Additional photos, measurements, or in-hand descriptions are available upon request prior to purchase.

Minor adjustments and tweaks to a set up (for example to correct a slight buzz or truss-rod tweak) are normal after shipping due to carrier mishandling the package, climate & atmospheric changes, especially when moving from South Florida to colder or less humid environments. These slight issues do not constitute “significantly not as described.” Guitars must be returned in the exact same condition as received/advertised or additional repair/restocking fees will apply.

We are a small business, not a big-chain retailer. We invest significant time and effort into every guitar. This is a NO TIRE-KICKING shop. There is no post purchase haggling or partial refunds. If minor cosmetic marks, tiny imperfections, or the possibility of a post-shipping setup tweak makes you uncomfortable, please do not buy. Plenty of large retailers offer free trials and can absorb shipping costs—we do not.

Payment, Shipping & International Duties

- All items can be shipped internationally. Buyer is fully responsible for all import duties, taxes, and customs fees.

- We accept PayPal, PayPal Credit, Affirm, and other major payment methods.

- Most U.S. shipments are sent via UPS or FedEx with full insurance, tracking, and signature confirmation. All packages are professionally packed for maximum protection.
