Up for grabs is this PAIR of the JBL EON woofers, the 615H 15" speakers..

These aren't your every day 615s, that's for sure!

So, why am I charging MORE Than what the POS replacement woofers cost???

Because I decided to have some fun with these " ECONOMIC" speakers (EON), and see what I could tweak, hot rod, beef up, manipulate, and get out of them performance and sound quality wise.......AND- I succeeded!

FIRST thing- They were stripped down to bare metal. EVERYTHING that wasn't the magnet or frame was discarded, and replaced with all OEM/ AMERICAN made top shelf components. There are NO after market, replacement, import, or chyna crap parts in this pair....

.......'Fellas, even if you don't buy from me- BUY AMERICAN!!!

Oh- While they were clean and stripped down, I just HAAAD to shoot them with some automotive " Color-Change" paint surface finish.... As you move, or the speaker is moved, you see the black, but it has metallic iridescent effects of greens and gold colors... pretty cool looking..

*NOTE--- Looks DO NOT make a speaker sound any better......Then again, it sure doesn't hurt either!!!

I'll go from the inside out..

The voice coils- I messed around, and found several different FOUR LAYER voice coils that would actually fit in the coil gap...I narrowed it down to a couple 8 ohm coils, that aren't made just for subwoofer use, but rather had finer gauge wire compared to automotive sub type coils...

The goal here was to get as many turns of the voice coil in the magnetic gap, while leaving MINIMAL air gap to increase efficiency. The tighter the gap- the higher the efficiency and better the heat transfer into the magnetic mass, which equates to improved power capacity, better Bl factor, better moving mass improved fidelity, control and so on.... and- just for fun, since I used an aluminum former , I shot a little ferro fluid to the INSIDE of the voice coil, between the former and the core...NOT enough to fill the gap, but rather to NARROW THE AIR GAP.It is a slightly overhung design, so everything will remain in control, even under higher excursions...

The coils are 8 ohms each...

Next- I used a high compliance, cupped/ high excursion spider assembly. This will allow a LOT of physical excursion without damage or the ability for the speaker to slam the back of the voice coil into the rear pole plate..Nothing too awful exciting about the spider description...

LITZ WIRES- Instead of the "Industry standard" pot-metal silver/gray stuff" which does nothing but smudge and smear the signal before it even gets to the voice coil. (((yes, I DID actually measure the effects of these materials with a square wave signal generator, a length of each litz material, and a dual trace oscilloscope, and the results are so obvious, that Ray Charles could explain it to us... )))I used a PURE COPPER litz wire set....it's .050" in diameter and conveys the details perfectly..

Now, the CONE ASSEMBLY!!!

......True, I could have used OEM cones, but what fun would that be for this project?

So, I just happened to have a pair of cones for the new HQ EV units, which have the complex pulp composition with several pulps, fiber glass and other added dampeners for inherent internal dampening. These cones are a curve-linear profile, and smooth body... They have superior detail, especially in that nasty octave from 200-400 Hz that usually sounds like mush...They are weather resistant.

Next, the surrounds they used on these cones.... yes, it's cloth & a wide fat double roll profile, and it is sealed and dampened, but if you look closely, these cones have that rubber/ RTV like material in the one surround wave that is a cone edge resonance absorption device.....

In addition to the cone pulp, these surrounds have the ability to absorb any remaining cone resonance issues, and those "pressure waves" do NOT get reflected back into the cone, and cause those secondary " Ghost Notes", which is distortion..... Something as simple as that makes all the difference in the world... These are tight and dry!

Then- a deep dome repressed pulp (paper) dust cap was used...It also has the black dampener right around it, which absorbs any reflections from being generated at that apex point.

The front mounting gaskets are the 4/8 hole mounting pattern and are brand new as well..I ditched those old OEM/ POS foam gaskets , as they were half deteriorated. These will actually give you an air tight seal....

Hook up is the OEM standard spade type terminals... Stamps and stickers were retained.

These things POUND and SING!

You'll notice play lower and louder, with greatly enhanced vocal area...

* Fully tested under diagnostics, without any rubbing, buzzing, holes, rips, or tears, these are basically new speakers again, ONLY BETTER!!

And- I'm confident enough that you will LOVE this pair, that I am including my 15 day " NO GAMBLE" return option from delivery date (((less customer damage))) if for ANY REASON you don't like them, or you dis-agree with ANYTHING that I just typed....

So, if you need a KILLER pair of 15" woofers for high output hi-fi, for great sounding "shop speakers" to re-load empty enclosures, for PA use, even as high end bass guitar speakers, then here ya' go!!!

ANY questions or concerns- just ask.

THANKS GUYS!!!
