1973 W&A (Gretsch shells + hardware) “Perfection” Drum Set - Blue Oyster Pearl, Walberg and Auge

Here’s a rare opportunity to own a piece of history—one of the few full drum sets produced by Walberg and Auge, a Massachusetts company famous for producing hardware for many of the most iconic drum brands of all time, including Ludwig, Rogers, Gretsch, and more!

This kit is a 13/16/22 setup, with the 13 and 16 being concert toms (these could easily be converted to double-headed, though). The real show-stopping aspect of these drums is that they’re the classic Gretsch jasper shells, with Gretsch lugs, t-rods, and claws. The tom hoops are probably not Gretsch.

The finish is a strikingly gorgeous blue oyster pearl with the most vibrant and eye-catching variant of the finish I’ve ever seen. All seams are solid and do not need work. It’s the version of the wrap that Rogers used in the 70s, but since Walberg and Auge was such a ubiquitous distributor to these brands, they created incredible hybrids of the iconic American drum kits, such as this one here.

The kit has pretty uniform rust and dinginess that a good cleaning should mostly remove. I just haven’t had the time to do so. Also, there are two small hairline splits in the bass drum’s wrap, which are barely visible as they follow the grain of the oyster pattern.
