I never liked the sound of my reissue compared to the originals I’ve used so I set out to make one that behaves and sounds like the real deal. This is the result of that. One of the first few hundred they made back in the day.

I started with all new NOS vintage USA, German and Russian tubes, hand selected and mostly military grade super high end stuff. Some of these tubes cost over $200 each (JAN halo GE). I spent years rolling tubes till I found the sound I was after. It grabs and spreads soundstage just like Ive heard the originals do when working in top tier studios. It now gives me the fat thunder I grew up with at my jobs that the originals had which I never could afford.

I then I swapped the TB4 onto cell for a much better custom unit that behaves and grabs like the originals. Then I had it recalibrated and swapped some older cheaper components for high end pcb parts. The end result is exactly what I wanted after all these years. It’s not a $20k original but you ears will tell you otherwise. Recently serviced in 2026 again, clean bill of health.
