Manufactured in Switzerland, this tape recorder became a symbol of quality and reliability in audio technology.
Revox is Willi Studer's consumer brand. All internal components of the B77 are STUDER-branded—motors, cartridges, circuit boards. Audio-Times: "I visited the factory in Regensdorf—they have the same quality standards for both Revox and Studer." TONEAudio: "Revox is the Rolex Oyster of reel-to-reel tape decks."
2-Track, High Speed ​​19/38 cm/s. Three motors, direct drive capstan, Revodur cartridges, cast aluminum chassis. Professionally restored and adjusted to factory specifications.
🔧 What's inside
• 3 AC motors, direct drive capstan — all made by Studer. Tachogenerator + servo system. The shaft is machined to 0.001 mm accuracy and chrome-plated. Even after 40 years, the motors are virtually indestructible.• Revodur heads — Studer's proprietary alloy (physically hard, magnetically soft). The same polishing standards as studio decks. Half-Track — full-width tape, maximum S/N, minimal crosstalk.• MkII: built-in Vari-Speed ​​— ±2 semitones. MkI required an external unit.• Cast aluminum + Nextel — die-cast chassis, headstock, and pinch roller. Nextel coating for anti-resonance. The design is deliberately heavy for stability.• Built-in splicing unit — splicing block + front panel cutter. Sound-on-Sound, Duoplay, audible shuttling.• Plug-in boards — modular design for easy maintenance. Bias/EQ calibration available.
