Up for sale is this very clean Sunburst Precision Bass. It was built in 1971 during the CBS Era (1965-1976), is USA-made and the serial No. is 301423, with an 'F' On Neck Plate.
I have had the bass for 40 years plus and it has always been looked after.
The bass is in very good condition with very little wear on the body. The pickups have been changed to the very desirable and old-school 80's era Bartolini Hi-A's, but the original Fender split-pickup will come with the bass. The fingerboard is a beautiful light Rosewood in excellent condition.
There is no rust on the hardware, the bridge and the machine heads are clean, although some screws holding the scratch-plate and other parts down show signs of rust. There is minimal buckle rash on the rear of the bass and although there is some age-wear on the body...and given that the bass is 55 years old, there are no dings or chips.
The original pickup and bridge covers are like new and come with the bass (they have been sitting in the case for 40 years). The weight of the bass is 4.25Kg.
I installed a Jazz bass pickup in the rear position with the updated wiring to accommodate the pickup years ago by Soundworks, Melbourne. A nice touch is the installed home-made and very good looking thumb-rest (made by me) from a old Ebony piano key.
The bass comes with the original case, also in very good condition.
