Gibson SG Standard from 1970 with no breaks
Same as Angus young first guitar
The guitar has been professionally restored and it is 100% ready to be played
Unlike most of the SGs of the era, both headstock and heel are free of anycrack or repair.
The fretboard and neck are dead straight, and the truss rodworks great with plenty of room for adjustment.
The walnut finish of the headstock and neck is original, and the body has been
refinished in a similar but a bit lighter walnut colour.
The finish is very thin period correct nitrocellulose lacquer that looks fantastic.
Most of the parts have been replaced, but now displays carefully selected high quality replacement parts:
The tuners, the backplate and 3 of the pots are original.
The ABR bridge is a high-quality vintage shape Crazy Parts replacement with brass saddles and thumbwheels and extra deep Stainless Steel posts (this makes a notable difference), the pickguard
is the wide bevati ply akaion with lightly aged
sides.
Modern replacement vibrola, and vintage repro strap pins. The pickups are Gibson 57 Classics, that suit this guitar extremely good.
It has been refretted with Stainless steel frets, so the playability is great like a new guitar, and you won't have to worry about any worn frets anymore. The break angle of the strings on the bridge is great, so you won't have a dull sounding guitar or
strings slipping form the saddles (this is a problem with some vibrola equipped guitars)
There is some small holes from a different pickguard installed in the past and 2 bigger ones near the toggle switch from old switches.
Also, a lot of small holes similar to pickguard holes from various tailpieces used?? ...who knows. Fortunately, almost all of them are covered by the beautiful vibrola tailpiece cover.
All the holes have been plugged with mahogany matching the original grain direction during the restoration process. The initial idea was to refinish the body in a solid colour that would hide all the plugs, but after the black grain filler and clear sanding sealer were applied the beautiful wood grain poppad as much beautiful wood grain popped so much that ira Better to show that wood.
I leave the most important part for the end. The tone screams Rock and Roll all over. It is punchy and clear with great note separation, and everything you would expect from a great Gibson SG from the 60s. The neck feels awesome, it has the 40mm narrow nut but it is not overly thin, definitely thicker that the latter 70s
ones.
The guitar will be shipped in a vintage hard case
I have described the guitar to the best of my ability, anyway, feel free to ask for any
further details you may need.
Thank you
