This 3-chip EPROM set loads your Alesis HR-16 or HR-16B with sounds from three iconic late-70s and 80s rhythm machines:
- Roland CR-78 — The world's first programmable drum machine, famously heard on Phil Collins' "In the Air Tonight" and Blondie's "Heart of Glass"
- Casio RZ-1 — Introduced sample playback to budget drum machines in the mid-80s
- Cheetah MD16 — A British drum machine with wide dynamic range and unique sonic texture
Together they form an eclectic palette of vintage analog-sampled drum textures that defined lo-fi, post-punk, new wave, and early electronic music.
What's Included:
- 3x custom-programmed EPROM chips (drop-in replacement for stock HR-16 / HR-16B sound ROMs)
- Sounds from Casio RZ-1 + Roland CR-78 + Cheetah MD16
- Bonus: upgrades your HR-16 OS to v2.0
- No soldering required — chip swap only
Compatible with: Alesis HR-16 and HR-16B
Note: For HR-16B, chip orientation is reversed — EPROM 16 installs into socket U15. Browse my other listings for more HR-16 EPROM sound sets and Alesis parts, or DM me for anything you don't see listed.
