2006 Gibson Yamano Custom Shop Historic 1957 Les Paul Junior Reissue Faded Cherry – w/ OHSC, COA & Tags, Madagascan Rosewood
Available here is an all-original and exceptionally clean 2006 Yamano-ordered Gibson Custom Shop Historic 1957 Les Paul Junior Reissue, finished in a tasteful Faded Cherry. This example features a stunning and highly characterful Madagascan rosewood fretboard — visually reminiscent of Brazilian rosewood — and comes complete with its original black Gibson Historic Les Paul–shaped hard case, certificate of authenticity, and all accompanying paperwork and tags.
Gibson’s Japanese distributor Yamano is widely associated with some of the finest USA-made Gibsons produced during this period. Instruments supplied through Yamano were often selected using particularly high-quality woods for the discerning Japanese market, and this guitar is a clear testament to that reputation. Quite simply, this is one of — if not the— finest Custom Shop Juniors we’ve had through the store: picture-perfect, lightweight, and exceptionally resonant when played unplugged.
Construction follows the classic recipe, featuring a single-piece solid mahogany slab body, one-piece mahogany neck with a substantial ’50s “baseball bat” profile, and a single dog-ear P-90 pickup. The Faded Cherry nitrocellulose lacquer has mellowed beautifully over time, presenting closer to a natural mahogany hue.
Condition-wise, the guitar remains in excellent overall shape. It is fully functional, free from breaks or repairs, and remarkably well preserved. Cosmetically, there is very little to note beyond a few light surface marks and minor pick wear to the pickguard — it would be difficult to find a cleaner example.
The Cherry finish has naturally faded over time, most noticeable beneath the pickguard, revealing a softer, more natural tone.
The neck and fretboard mirror the guitar’s overall condition, showing minimal play wear, with all 22 frets retaining ample life. The original nickel hardware and electronics function exactly as intended, while the stock P-90 delivers the raw, snarling character that makes a great Junior so special.
This one weighs in at 3.3kg (7.27lbs)
It’s been expertly cleaned and setup by Ben of Beej Guitar Repairs with a fresh set of 10-46 strings
