Overview & Dating This is a rare, low-production late-70s Jazzmaster. While the neck and pickup dates are both from 1976, the serial number begins with "S7," identifying it as a 1977 model. Although several parts have been replaced due to natural wear, the guitar is in excellent playing condition and offers superb playability.

Condition & Playability The neck is in great shape, remaining straight and true. I have confirmed that the truss rod has plenty of room for future adjustments. The original frets have approximately 60% height remaining in the worn areas. The electronics are fully functional with no scratchy pots or signal issues.

Tone & Construction Consistent with Fender’s specs of this era, it features an ash body, which delivers a crisp, punchy, and highly responsive attack compared to the warmer alder-bodied models of the 1960s. It retains excellent clarity and definition even when played through high-gain distortion. The guitar has been professionally set up without the need for neck shims, ensuring a comfortable and stable playing experience.

Replaced Parts & Repairs To maintain its performance as a "player’s grade" instrument, the following parts have been updated:

  • Tuners: Recent Fender "F-key" models
  • Bridge: Recent Fender USA model
  • Other: Nut, frets, two pots, jack, pickguard, strap pins, and tremolo arm.

Note: There are visible marks from a previously relocated string tree. There is also a professionally stable crack repair located just above the high-E tuner.

Weighs:4.4kg

Accessories Includes a recent Fender USA black Tolex hardshell case.
