Ibanez Edge Original Locking Tremolo Bridge Brushed Chrome

The Ibanez Edge tremolo bridge—often referred to as the “Original Edge”—is Ibanez’s legendary take on the classic Floyd Rose–style double-locking tremolo. Developed during the golden era of Ibanez Superstrats, the Edge is widely regarded as one of the finest locking trem systems ever produced, prized for its smooth feel, tuning stability, and tonal response.

Based on the original Floyd Rose patent design, the Edge improves on the formula in several key ways. It features replaceable knife edges for extended service life, less bulky saddles with fewer sharp edges for improved comfort, and increased overall mass to enhance sustain. Additional refinements include steel sleeves for the anchor studs and a pop-in trem arm, making the Edge both durable and player-friendly.
This specific bridge is the genuine Japanese-made “Original Edge” from the late 1980s through the 1990s, clearly stamped “Ibanez EDGE JAPAN” on the black base plate and “Licensed Under Floyd Rose Patents” on the front — exactly the version that powered the JEM, RG550, and every iconic Superstrat of the era.

Most people consider this to be the best Floyd Rose system on the market. This particular unit is in a flawless brushed chrome finish, with a matching string retainer. Unfortunately, no trem arm, or studs available with this unit. A trem claw and springs can be included at request for no additional cost.

Finding a genuine vintage Original Edge in this excellent condition is extremely rare these days. Most examples from the golden era have seen decades of gigging and touring, leaving them with worn knife edges, stripped screws, pitted saddles, or missing hardware. This one has been meticulously preserved — bright, clean metal finish, sharp and smooth knife edges, flawless saddle action, and every original part still intact. A true survivor that’s becoming almost impossible to find in this kind of shape. Some of the paint flaked off the sustain block, but other that that this is mint.

This is a genuine Ibanez Original Edge (not a licensed or aftermarket copy). Perfect drop-in for any Superstrat project, RG, S-series, or vintage Ibanez build. Zero issues, rock-solid tuning, and that unmistakable Ibanez sustain and feel.
