6The E-MU Orbit (specifically the 9090 "The Dance Planet" released in 1996) is a 1U rackmount, 32-voice digital sound module designed for techno, house, and electronica. It features 8MB of ROM with samples of vintage analog gear, 17 Z-Plane filters, and extensive modulation capabilities. It was a staple of 90s dance production.
Key features and details include:
- Sound Engine: 32-voice polyphony, 16-bit, 39kHz sample rate, with 8MB of dance-oriented ROM.
- Versatile Sounds: Includes samples from Roland TB-303, Juno, Casio CZ-101, and TR-909.
- Versions: The original Orbit 9090 was followed by a "V2" update, which added more presets, improved drum tracks, and a song mode.
- Workflow: Known for its "tweaky" and somewhat "thin" digital sound that benefits from external effects like reverb and delay.
- Control: Offers 17 Z-Plane filters and deep modulation, though editing can be tedious, making it a popular preset-based"set-and-forget" tool.
- The Orbit was part of a series that included the Planet Phatt and Carnavalmodules.
I have been the original owner of this unit. It comes with a UK kettle lead plug.
Aesthetically in excellent condition. Please see pictures of the inside of the unit and it has been cleaned recently. Not many around for sale secondhand. Comes complete with the original manual as pictured. Screen maintains it’s brightness. Further questions don’t hesitate to ask.
Sensational sounds. A classic.
