The Ibanez MC 5000 LTD is one of the rarest and most exclusive instruments produced by Ibanez in the early 1980s. This extraordinary model was originally built in extremely small numbers for two members of the legendary band Grateful Dead: guitar icon Jerry Garcia and rhythm guitarist Bob Weir. The MC 5000 LTD therefore represents a fascinating chapter in the collaboration between Ibanez and some of the most influential musicians in rock history.

Technically, the instrument is based on the high-end Musician Series, but it clearly stands apart from regular production models thanks to its elaborate materials and exclusive construction. At its core is a multi-piece neck-through-body design, in which the neck and central body section are made from several laminated wood strips. This construction provides exceptional stability, outstanding resonance, and impressive sustain. A particular myth surrounds the extremely limited number of instruments produced.
