For Sale: 1988 Fender Stratocaster ’57 Reissue – Made in USA

Beautiful 1988 Stratocaster, ’57 Reissue model, Made in USA, strikingly reminiscent of the famous red Stratocaster used by David Gilmour.

Despite its age, the guitar is in excellent condition, with only some normal signs of wear consistent with a well-maintained vintage instrument. This comes from the same series that would later become the AVRI (American Vintage Reissue) line in the 1990s; however, following the Fullerton era, the series was simply known as Vintage Reissue.

The guitar is entirely original except for the bridge, which appears to have been replaced at some point. It has also been refretted in the past, with the work carried out very well.

During my ownership, two modifications were made:

• Installation of EMG DG20 pickups
• A careful routing of the pickup cavities in the body, just enough to allow the EMGs to sit fully inside the body and achieve the clarity and natural tone precision associated with Gilmour’s sound.

It is also fitted with a short Gilmour-style tremolo arm.

The Candy Apple Red finish is the classic 1980s version, featuring the famous gold undercoat, a detail that is increasingly difficult to find.

In addition to the original accessories included, the guitar will also come with its original set of passive pickups.

The instrument is in perfect working condition and has just received a fresh setup. It is currently strung with new Elixir Polyweb .010 strings, and the EMG battery has been replaced prior to sale.

Will be shipped with bomb-proof packaging and a Fender Tweed case (not original to the guitar).
