Arguably, the top of the heap, the king of the hill for the silver-faced Pioneer tape decks; certainly when it comes to the Fluoroscan line.

Essentially, a tank - solidly built, heavy, substantial unit.
A joy to behold and operate - very satisfying action of the switches and knobs.

The condition is really quite good, with minimal superficial imperfections on the case.

Refurbished at the cost of $240! The work included the loading mechanism:

  • printed circuit board repair
  • cassette loading mechanism
  • Heads were cleaned, demagnetized and calibrated

Comes with 3 shrink-wrapped Fuji 90 minute tapes (Normal bias).

Fully functional - no issues.  Do note that IF you want to calibrate the tapes you are using (vs. the Maxell UDXL that was used to calibrate it in the pictures), you will likely need to recalibrate the deck; that said, it's in the eye of the beholder and Pioneer warns (in the manual) that not all tapes/head combos can be fully calibrated.

Please see pictures - they're part of the description.

See the video for a demo. I had an iPod hooked up to the inputs - so, you can hear the 'source' (jumping to the 21st century...:-)).

The video also shows a SR-303 reverberation amplifier and an RG-2 dynamic signal processor - those are also for sale in a separate listing.

Perhaps you can find it listed elsewhere for less (and I have seen them go for MORE) - but, in my case, you would be getting a thoroughly checked-out and refreshed unit with no stories.

See the feedback; I don't buy items to flip - it's not a source of income for me (especially when you consider the Reverb fees), no matter what IRS would like to think. These are "rescues", something I enjoy doing as a hobby. Considering that parts units sell for 500 clams, this is a solid investment at a good buy-in, if you ask me... I don't sell trash that can be found on other sites.

It will go out well packed and fully insured - through Reverb Safe Shipping (their coverage and customer service is quite good - given the weight, it's not cheap but is WELL WORTH the surety it brings). I have shipped aplenty (and had many shipped to me - so I know what NOT to do). So - this is going to be a sizeable package when all is said and done - I am not making money on shipping.

A standard disclaimer:    While the unit is fully operational to the best of my knowledge, it is being sold "as-described" because some folks here and on other platforms harbor peculiar misapprehensions about how a 40-50 year old piece of vintage electronics should look and function.
